About

Pine Lane Advisors was founded by Andrew Goldman, whose career has spanned senior strategy and operating leadership, business development and partnerships, marketing and communications, nonprofit strategy, public policy, and journalism.

For more than two decades, Andrew has advised and worked alongside CEOs, boards, and senior leadership teams at leading for-profit and nonprofit organizations—helping them navigate consequential strategic decisions, develop new sources of growth and revenue, build products and partnerships, strengthen organizations and governance, and find the narratives that move important ideas forward.

Today, Andrew advises senior leaders across both the private and nonprofit sectors on strategy, growth, new products and services, strategic partnerships, organizational effectiveness, governance, and positioning. His work draws on extensive operating experience in technology, financial services, education, behavioral health, public policy, and other sectors, with a particular focus on opportunities that cross traditional functional or industry boundaries.

A significant focus of Andrew's recent work has been helping organizations recognize the commercial potential of assets they have often spent decades building: gold-standard content, trusted expertise, intellectual property, methodologies, training, research, and deep institutional knowledge.

As senior strategy consultant at the Partnership to End Addiction, Andrew initiated and oversaw development of a national K–12 substance-use professional-development initiative, including strategic-partner relationships and coordination with state and local education and health officials. He led the integration and rollout of the first substance-use and youth-mental-health professional-training modules on one of the nation's most widely used K–12 platforms.

Andrew's strategy work has also included engagements with the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and the United Nations Foundation, working directly with CEOs, senior leadership teams, and board members on strategic and organizational priorities.

Assignments have ranged from redesigning governance and strengthening board-management relationships to refocusing and scaling marketing, development, sales, and other organizational functions.

Prior to his current consulting work, Andrew served as Chief Strategy Officer of Great Minds, one of the country's leading K–12 curriculum organizations, providing core mathematics, English language arts, and science curricula to schools across the United States.

Andrew oversaw the operating business, strategic partnerships, and new-business integration, working across functions to help the organization manage rapid growth and build for its next stage.

He also initiated and led the early work exploring outside investment as a means of accelerating Great Minds' growth. That process ultimately resulted, after his departure, in a $150 million strategic investment.

Andrew previously served as Global Head of Marketing, Communications, and Public Policy for some of the most successful technology-enabled financial-services and fintech organizations of their eras, including Nasdaq/Island ECN, Instinet, and Gerson Lehrman Group.

In these roles, he operated at the intersection of business strategy, markets, communications, and growth—overseeing global corporate communications and marketing, digital, print, and broadcast campaigns, and major media and business partnerships.

Andrew was also a founding Managing Director of the Washington, D.C. office of Clark & Weinstock, a leading public-policy and crisis-communications firm, where clients included Microsoft, Lockheed Martin, and the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. His work for the Campaign included Congressional briefings and negotiations related to the Master Settlement Agreement with the major tobacco companies.

Andrew served in the U.S. Department of Defense as Special Assistant to Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney and as a senior policy adviser to Congressional leadership on national-security and financial-policy issues.

He was one of the founding editors of The National Interest and worked as an editorial writer and editor at The Asian Wall Street Journal in Hong Kong and The Public Interest in New York. His writing on foreign policy and international economics has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, National Review, Orbis, and other publications.
